INSTRUCTIONS

Oxyphone® Pediatric Nebulizer Phone

 Wired Version

1.  Fill the nebulizer with the medicine prescribed by your doctor and attach the hose to your nebulizer machine.

2.  Attach the nebulizer to the connector on the Oxyphone®.

3.  Plug the cord into the headphone connection on your personal music device.

 4.  Turn on the music and adjust the volume.  Remember, the nebulizer makes a lot of noise.  Adjust as necessary.

5.  Give the Oxyphone® to the child, or hold it up to her ear. Allow her to get used to it if this is the first time.

6.  Turn on your nebulizer machine.  You will see the flow of mist from the mouthpiece.  Be sure to aim it for the mouth and nose region to be inhaled.

7.  If the mist does not flow towards the mouth and nose, move the earpiece of the Oxyphone® away from the ear a little ways to see if that helps. The music should still be easily heard by your child.

8.  If the child is laying flat on her back, the nebulizer may not work.   Raise the head slightly and retry. An adult should monitor the treatment to make sure the child is breathing in the medicine.

Cleaning the Oxyphone®:

  1. Clean the Oxyphone®with baby wipes, a damp soapy cloth followed by a clean damp cloth, or any wipes or similar product that is safe for use around children.  Be sure to wipe the inside of the plastic connector where the medicine comes out.
  2. Do NOT spray cleaner into the earpiece or put  the Oxyphone®  in water as it will damage the speaker.

Note:

The rotating connector on the Oxyphone® is designed to fit a Westmed  VixOne  nebulizer (included.)  Your child can lay down with the Oxyphone® mouthpiece angled up 45 degrees.

Most other nebulizers have slightly different sizes.   If the one you have is too small, put a piece of tape around the neck of the neulizer so it will fit snugly into the Oxyphone®.
